To strengthen the climate-vulnerable communities of Pakistan through risk mitigation and adaptation interventions.
Climate change is a major driver of natural catastrophes and continues to upsurge the global disaster landscape in the 21st Century. Considerably, Pakistan is standing in the top ten most climate-affected countries in the world. In Pakistan, climate changes are expected to have wide-ranging impacts, such as increasing carbon emissions, reducing agricultural productivity, increasing the frequency of extreme climate events and increasing variability of water availability, etc. According to the Global Environment Performance Index, Pakistan is on the list of countries that need immediate actions to tackle this environment and climate-caused stress. The recently released Environment Performance Index 2022, which lists countries based on the environmental performance of their policies, ranked Pakistan 176 out of 180 countries. Pak Mission Society is taking the lead in climate action-related initiatives by promoting alternates of using plastic and tree plantation activities that are being introduced in different parts of the country while we keep ensuring a reduction in the burning of carbon fuels in target communities. Pak Mission Society also catalyzes to reduce of the effects of climate change through climate change adaptation using its resources. Pak Mission Society has positioned itself from 2020-2025 in coherence with SDGs 2030, and the Pakistan Vision of 2025 of the government in harmony with the Clean Green Pakistan campaign.
