Asia Bibi, a 29-year-old mother of four and wife of Bilal, belonged to a simple household in Village Mala Khail, Union Council Bursaabad, Tehsil & District Rajanpur. When the recent floods swept through her village, her home was destroyed within hours. With no choice left, they moved to the Zakheera Flood Relief Camp, leaving behind not only their belongings but also sense of safety and stability.
Life in the camp was far from easy. As a mother and caregiver, Asia Bibi struggled with the absence of even the most basic necessities. There were no proper hygiene supplies, no safe space for her daughters, and no materials to help her manage daily life with dignity. “It was heartbreaking,” she recalled. “I felt helpless because I could not give my children the care and protection they needed.”
When Pak Mission Society (PMS) team visited Zakheera Camp, they identified Asia Bibi’s family as one of the most vulnerable. Her family was provided with a hygiene kit, a dignity kit, and essential non-food items, including a tarpaulin sheet for shelter and a jerrycan to store clean water.
With these items, Asia Bibi along with his husband was able to create a private temporary space for their children. The tarpaulin sheet gave them protection from the harsh weather, while the jerrycan made it possible to keep water safe for drinking, cooking, and washing. The hygiene kit restored something she deeply longed for cleanliness and dignity.
“For a mother, nothing is more painful than being unable to protect her children,” Asia Bibi shared with gratitude. “These items may seem small to others, but for me, they brought back my strength and dignity. Now I can look after my children with confidence.”
